Taylor Swift makes donation to Tennessee animal shelter, has four puppies named in her honor

It’s always heartwarming to see celebrities using their platform to help shelter animals in need — and recently, one shelter got a big boost from one of the biggest stars in the world.

Williamson County Animal Center, in Tennessee, recently announced that they received a “generous donation” from music megastar Taylor Swift.

It’s no secret that Swift has a place in her heart for animals: her beloved pet cat Olivia Benson is a celebrity in her own right, with an estimated $97 million net worth that makes her the world’s third-richest pet.

But the platinum-selling, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter is now showing some love for less-fortunate pets. Swift’s donation will no doubt go a long way in helping the shelter’s cats and dogs.

And in an adorable show of gratitude for Swift’s donation, the Williamson County Animal Center has now named four of their adoptable puppies after Taylor Swift’s songs.

Four mixed-breed, black-and-white puppies in the shelter’s care have been named “Carolina,” “Bejeweled,” “Midnight Rain” and “Willow.”

“While all Swifties know Taylor loves cats, we hope she won’t mind that we named our newest adoptable puppies after her songs,” the shelter wrote.

It’s a great way to thank Taylor Swift and bring attention to these dogs who need homes. It’s already working great: the shelter wrote that two of the pups, Midnight Rain and Willow, have already been adopted.

“We are very grateful for Taylor’s support of our shelter, which serves the pets of Williamson County through adoption, spay & neuter, enforcement, microchips, rabies clinics, and paw pantry,” the shelter wrote.

Williamson County is close to Nashville, so it seems like Swift wanted to support a local shelter. She moved to the city at age 14 to pursue her music career.

Swift isn’t the first music star to use their fame to help a shelter, or to have adoptable dogs named after them: in September, the Backstreet Boys posed with puppies that shared their names to help them find homes.

Other celebrities outside the music industry have also gotten involved: Jackass star Steve-O highlighted some adoptable pets during one of his shows, leading to the adoption of a longtime shelter dog.

It’s always inspiring to see celebrities supporting shelters and helping animals in need, especially someone as influential as Taylor Swift. We hope she inspires people to adopt pets and support their own local shelters!
