Backstreet Boys team up with rescue to help their namesake puppies find homes

If you grew up in the ’90s, you probably have a special place in your heart for the Backstreet Boys, whether you’ll admit it or not.

The five-member pop boy band was one of the biggest acts of the late 90s and early 2000s, becoming the best-selling boy band of all time and one of the world’s best-selling music groups thanks to hits like “I Want it That Way” and “As Long As You Love Me.”

The Backstreet Boys are still going strong โ€” and recently, they used their worldwide fame for a very good cause: helping a group of rescue puppies find homes.

In a Facebook post, the Nashville Humane Society announced that they were teaming up with the Backstreet Boys to help raise awareness for a litter of six of their puppies who are all up for adoption.

“Last week, when BSB were in town, these pups were invited to visit them AND HELP them with a special production shoot,” Nashville Humane Society wrote. “As you can see from the photos in this post, the experience was Larger Than Life for all involved!”

Five of the pups have been named after Backstreet Boys. Photos show the five members of the boy band (that’s Brian, Nick, AJ, Howie, and Kevin, in case you needed a refresher) adorably holding their namesake.

A sixth puppy from the litter has been named Millennium (after the band’s classic 1999 album). All the dogs are 9-to-10-week-old shepherd mixes, and all will be available for adoption this week.

While the pop stars don’t come included, the Nashville Humane Association says it’s a chance for fans and pet lovers to “have 6 degrees of separation” from the band members.

“We’re all sure you want it that way. Cause all of these pups promise that they’ll never break your heart,” they wrote, among their many lyric references.

It’s heartwarming to see the Backstreet Boys lending their fame (and their names) to such a good cause, and we’re sure the viral popularity of this story will help these puppies get adopted fast.

The Nashville Humane Association said they were “so grateful for this superstardom support towards raising adoption awareness.”

Plus, the bandmates got to play with some adorable puppies, and no matter how many platinum singles you’ve recorded, that’s still the best feeling in the world.

This seems like a great, fun way to get the word out about dogs in need of homes, and hopefully more ’90s boy bands will step up to help.

N*SYNC, the ball is now in your court.

It’s not the first time a celebrity has stepped up to help their rescue-pet namesake: in 2020, a cat named Dennis Quaid was adopted by the actual Dennis Quaid.

What a fun idea! Thank you to the Backstreet Boys for going out of their way to help these puppies! We hope these adorable “Backstreet Pups” find homes soon!
