‘Silly’ pit bull finally finds a home after 842 days in shelter

There are so many dogs in shelters, all waiting for the day they will finally be adopted. But it takes some longer than others to find their forever home—and sadly, sometimes it can take months or even years.

It can be especially difficult for pit bulls. They are the most common dog found in shelters—possibly due to the unfair negative stereotypes that surround the breed.

But thankfully, the wait is over for one lovely pit bull, who has finally found her home after spending nearly two years in a shelter.

Mia is a two-year-old pit bull mix who entered Astabula County Animal Protective League, in Ohio, on December 12, 2018.

The shelter workers quickly fell in love with the dog’s “very silly personality,” and worked hard to find her the perfect home.

“She loves to go on walks and does pretty well on a leash after she runs off the initial excitement of going out,” ACAPL wrote. “Mia can be a trickster sometimes and play games while on leash.”

However, they noted that Mia was also picky about the dogs she is friends with, and because she gets “very attached to her domain” they asked she be adopted to a “low traffic home.”

While Mia had a lot to offer, they still struggled to find the right match. As 2020 went by, Mia had spent most of her life in the shelter, with no end in sight.

But then, a miracle happened.

On November 28, ACAPL announced that Mia had finally found her forever home, after 842 days in the shelter.

The posted a photo of Mia with her new owner, with a sign that said “My ‘happily ever after’ begins today!” and it couldn’t be truer. Mia looks so happy in the photo, knowing she’s finally going home.

The shelter was also thrilled to see Mia find a home after all this time, and thanked Mia’s new owner for opening his heart and home to this lonely dog.

“It takes a very special family to give long term dogs a home!” the ACAPL wrote. “We thank you for taking a chance with our Mia!”

We’re so glad Mia finally has a home, just in time for the holidays! We know she will be very happy for now on!
