No one cares about wolf dying in ditch, until one animal lover stops and does the only right thing

The wolf was lying alone in a ditch. He had been hit by a car and his leg could no longer support his weight. He probably understood that his life was coming to an end there and then. No wolf can take care of itself out in the wild with a broken leg.

Then, suddenly, he heard voices behind him. Humans.

He probably got scared. Because he had no idea that the humans were on their way to save him.

Arabian wolves live in small packs in Israel, Yemen, Jordan och Saudi Arabia. They are smaller than their American and European counterparts and almost look like dogs. Unfortunately, they aren’t so popular among farmers in the area, because they often eat farm animals.

So when a wolf was run down on a country road in Israel, the driver didn’t seem to care. They drove on and left the wolf in the ditch with a broken leg.

The wolf was in extreme pain and limped to the side of the road. There was no way he would survive in this condition. Luckily for him, an animal lover drove by to help, and took the wolf to the vet.

There, he was given the name Oliel.

On the X-Ray, the vets could see that his leg was broken, and they needed to operate quickly.

Oliel was sedated and the vet repaired his leg, but he still had a long way to go before he was fully healed.

While he was recovering, he lived in captivity at an animal shelter, a strange environment for a wild wolf.

After four long months, Oliel was finally strong enough to be released back into the wild.

His cage was loaded on a car and poor Oliel had no idea what was happening. He did not understand it at the time, but he would soon be free again.

Staff drove out to the place where Oliel would be set free. They opened his cage and waited behind it. The wolf was cautious at first. After four long months in captivity, it was hard for him to believe that he was really free.

But after a moment’s hesitation, he decided to sprint from his cage.

He ran as far as he could, without worrying about a thing around him. His leg was finally working as it should again!

Good luck to you, little Oliel!

What a wonderful job these animal lovers did saving Oliel.
