Dog hears a child scream and jumps into action, putting his own life in danger

There are so many stories that show that dogs really are man’s best friend. A dog is a friend for life and loyal to the end; they would do anything to protect you.

When a man took his dog Hurley, a pitbull labrador cross, out for a walk late one night, his protector jumped into action and risked his own life to save a human stranger. The extent to which this dog put his life on the line is quite extraordinary.

Now his proud owner wants to share this story with as many people as possible to show how wonderful this breed of dog, is for those who think otherwise.

Stacie immediately took to Facebook after the incident to share the story which, she said, started with her  brother taking his dog Hurley out for a walk late one night. He usually took his dog out late so he could let him off the leash and let him run around and explore, something that Hurley loved to do.

Child screaming

But suddenly a scream was heard from the bushes; it sounded like it was coming from a child, and Hurley ran to discover more.

“With my brother close behind, he saw Hurley grab a copper head snake away from the little boy and fling it around, we later found out he had killed it,” Stacie said on Facebook.

Boy bitten

The boy quickly ran back to his mother’s vehicle and Stacie’s brother had no chance to ask the boy if he was okay. They assumed that his mom had rushed him to the ER.

The dog owner called animal control and the Highland Village Cops to attend to the scene and make sure this snake was no danger to others.

Then he noticed that hero Hurley was bleeding, had a swollen neck and was foaming from his mouth. He then saw two puncture wounds to his upper lip and rushed him to the nearest animal emergency hospital where he stayed the night. Thankfully he was able to return home the next day.

True hero

It was later discovered the little boy had come across a copper head nest and hopefully Hurley prevented him from getting bitten, or at least getting bitten multiple times.

Hurley is a true hero putting his own life on the line to help a boy he didn’t even know!

Thankfully Hurley has recovered from the awful incident. Stacie’s brother has not been able to find out if the boy was bitten but we hope he has recovered and thinks about the sweet dog that stopped a bad situation from getting worse.

Now Stacie’s brother wants to share the story with as many people as possible, especially those who judge Hurley’s particular breed.

Dogs are amazing animals and man’s best friend! Share if you agree!
