Dog’s reaction to being surrendered is caught on camera and it’s heartbreaking

It can be a heart-wrenching time for those pet owners who are forced to surrender their animals as they can no longer look after them. But what about for the animals?

Surely every dog knows when it’s being surrendered to an animal shelter, especially if that’s the place they were adopted from in the first place; I can’t imagine the confusion, panic and sadness they must be feeling.

Moses the dog was being surrendered to the very animal services agency he’d been adopted from around a year ago. A video has been released of his reaction when he’s taken there and it’s truly heartbreaking.

Moses was being surrendered by his owner at Stanislaus Animal Services Agency in Modesto, California, according to Pet Rescue Report.

Volunteer and animal advocate Nancy Klein filmed Moses being dropped off and caught this poor dog pawing at his owner while he explained why he had to leave his dog.

“It’s like he ‘knew’ the way he clung to his owner,” said Nancy. “I had to catch my breath. As I asked why he (the owner) said they had to move and he wasn’t allowed. I took out my phone and well …you can see for yourself.”

The owner explained that where he was moving to he couldn’t take a dog and so was returning him to the place where he had adopted him in the first place around a year ago.

“My heart literally sank,” Nancy said. “He(Moses) wanted to meet everyone there, including the boy and his mom who were in the lobby. It took everything in me not to just take him home.”

She said Moses was one of the sweetest dogs she had ever met and it’s just heartbreaking to think he was being surrendered.

Not long after this sweet hound was surrendered Nancy posted an update announcing he had been adopted.

“I just got news that MOSES WAS ADOPTED!! 😃 and he has two new human kids to play with and love him! ❤ We are SO very happy for him!,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

We are so happy that Moses found a new home, we wish him all the best in the future.
