Dog left to die in ditch – can’t stop kissing woman who saved her

Animal lover Judy Obregon has a heart of gold. She often takes a detour around Echo Lake in Fort Worth, Texas. The reason why is heartwarming.

Echo Lake is a place where dog owners often dump their pets when they’re tired of them.

Judy has found several lonely and scared dogs in the area that she patrols. A few times she has arrived too late, and found dead animals instead.

At the end of March this year, she found something that moved everybody. Watch the dramatic rescue below.

Judy thought she saw something moving in a ditch and stopped her car. When she stepped out of her car, she heard a dog whining and crying in the bushes.

When the little dog saw Judy, she was beside herself with happiness. She stumpled over to Judy and lay her head in her hand.

Judy could see that the dog had some rope around her neck where she’d been tied to a tree, but somehow she’d managed to break free.

Beside her, Judy found two bags with dead dogs in them.

Someone had left the little dog there to die, next to the bodies of two other dogs. It makes me sick just thinking about it!

Judy wanted to get the dog away from there as fast as possible, and lifted her into the car. The little dog could hardly contain her excitement. During the car journey she kissed Judy on the cheek again and again.

When they got to the vet, Judy found out that the little dog was completely healthy.

They named her Callie.

Callie’s life is now full of joy and love, and she never needs to worry about being abandoned again. She has lots of toys, a family that takes care of her and lots of dog friends to play with.

All thanks to Judy and animal organisation The Abandoned Ones.
