They only have each other in the world – now this dog picture has touched the whole world

Everyone who has or has had a German shepherd knows what incredibly wise and loyal dogs they are. That’s why it particularly hurt me when I saw these pictures.

Gus and Laurie are two wonderful dogs, greatly attached to one another – but without a home to feel safe in.

Fortunately, the end of this story is very bright.

Dogs Gus and Laurie are currently stealing many hearts over the internet. Several pictures of the two friends closely cuddling with one another are attracting much attention.

And it’s not hard to understand why — just take a look at the photos below.

Gus and Laurie were found on the street in Virginia, USA, when they were only 3 months old. They were then temporarily sheltered in a barn where they lived alone but without adequate supervision from humans.

Today they are 7 months old and have finally been taken in by an animal welfare organization.

Want to keep them together

Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue posted these two pictures of the dogs on Facebook, asking if anyone would consider adopting the two together. They simply do not have the heart to separate them.

Throughout their lives, Gus and Laurie have only had each other and their strong bond is very obvious.

When Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue posted pictures of the dogs, they probably could not have imagined how much attention the dogs would get. Deciding to adopt one dog is a difficult decision in itself — adopting two simultaneously is double the challenge. But, as it turned out, it would appear it was a pretty easy choice in this case.

The post has been shared over 17,000 times, and requests to adopt both dogs have come pouring in since.

Will meet cats and kids

The organization has written an update on Facebook informing the public that the dogs are currently in their foster home in Virginia and will be meeting both cats and children to determine whether a family with one or the other (or both) would be an adequate fit for them.

As soon as the right kind of family for them is determined, they will be ready to move into their new forever-home. And it’s clear there will be no problem finding one, given the tremendous response.

Social media is amazing sometimes! Thanks to the wide sharing of this post, Gus and Laurie will surely get home together very soon and never live on the street again.

We wish them a long and beautiful future together with their new family!
