Dog is taken to be euthanized just for ‘not playing enough,’ until a rescue saves his life

It’s always shocking how some people can abandon their dogs at shelters for such trivial reasons. When you adopt a pet you need to commit to caring for them for the rest of their life, and it’s sad how people can just toss them away.

It’s even worse when these people actually ask for their dogs to be euthanized. That was the case for one poor dog, who was nearly put down just because he wasn’t playful enough.

Luckily, he found the right people and got the second chance he deserved.

In 2016, a dog named Simba was abandoned by his owners for “not playing” enough. The owners even requested that he be euthanized.

Thankfully, no one went through with putting down this little dog, and Simba was taken in by an animal rescue called Sidewalk Specials.

Unlike the dog’s former family, the rescuers quickly realized there was a reason this dog wasn’t very playful: he was clearly severely ill.

Upon investigation they found the cause: Simba had a tick bite fever. His condition was dire, and he only had a 50/50 chance of survival, but the rescue did everything they could to save his life.

Miraculously, Simba began to get better. While recovering, he was taken in by a foster family, and had a dog brother to look after him.

His spirit was coming back, and he was beginning to play again. Soon, the shelter decided to find him a forever home.

Simba was quickly adopted by the first family he met, and they turned out to be the perfect home. After being left for dead for not playing enough, this dog got a happy ending, happily running around the backyard of his loving new owners.

It’s heartbreaking that anyone would give up on Simba so easily, but we’re glad he ended up in the right hands and found his forever home!
