Cosmo, the dog star of ‘Fuller House,’ has died at age 4 — cast pays emotional tribute

Families everywhere have enjoyed Netflix’s Fuller House, the revival of Full House that reunited the cast and follows the families of the now-grown-up Tanner girl from the original series.

But as the show starts to wrap up its five-season run, both fans and the show’s cast and crew have been left with heartbreaking news: Cosmo, the family’s pet golden retriever, has died at the age of four.

The dog, named Cosmo both on the show and in real life, grew up before our eyes, appearing on our screens since he was a puppy.

The show’s official Twitter account broke the news, saying that Cosmo died after complications from a surgery.

“There will never be another quite like our boy,” they wrote. “We’ll miss him forever.”

The news came as a shock to the cast, who posted their own emotional tributes online.

Candace Cameron Bure, who has played DJ Tanner on both Full House and Fuller House, tweeted that the cast is “heartbroken” by the news.

“Our sweet boy Cosmo is now running around in doggie heaven,” she wrote. “I imagine he’s playing with Comet.”

Comet was the dog from the original Full House. He was played by Buddy, who died in 1998.

Jodie Sweetin, who plays Stephanie, also posted a tribute on Instagram.

“Our little Cosmo was always such a good boy and our hearts are [broken],” she wrote. “Say hello to Comet for me, buddy.”

The younger cast members also expressed their grief, like Soni Nicole Bringas, who plays Ramona Gibbler.

“Cosmo, you completed our family,” she wrote. “You were such a good boy, always working hard, excited to play and every single one of us loved getting to see you each week.”

“Denise, our wonderful animal trainer, I know how much you cared for Cosmo as if he were your own son. We are so appreciative to both of you for all the time and love you gave the show.”

Cosmo’s death comes at a bittersweet time for everyone involved. The series wrapped up filming last month, and the first half of the final season premiered on December 5. The final episodes will air sometime next year.

Cosmo may be gone, but he’ll live on in the hearts of fans and his co-stars who got so much joy from him over the years.
