“Never in all of my years was I prepared to encounter what I saw upon my arrival,” Deputy Scott said in a statement that was shared on  Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

He saw the end of a cat hanging from the top of a garage door, and could not believe his eyes There were already several neighbors and construction workers there attempting to assist.

Devastated by flood

After a few hours the cat’s owner returned and couldn’t believe what had happened to her precious pet, exclaiming,  “Oh my God, Bella!”

The post exclaimed how important this rescue was for her owner after the neighborhood had experienced a trying time of late.

“After speaking with the homeowner further, Deputy Scott learned that most of the residents in the Autumnview neighborhood were devastated by the recent August flood and all of the neighbors had become close in the past four months,” the post read.

It continued: “The homeowner told Deputy Scott that he received four feet of water in his residence and he left earlier that day to get some lumber for repairs and Bella must have been sleeping on the garage door and he did not notice when he left.”

The cat managed to escape this particular ordeal with no injuries, proving yet again that cat’s really do have nine lives.
