Independent dog rides the bus to the dog park on her own every day

It’s amazing how intelligent dogs can be. While some dogs like to be by our side or hang around at home, others just like to get out there and explore the world.

They’re not strays—just independent dogs who are able to get around on their own. That’s the case for a black lab named Eclipse, who is owned by a Seattle man named Jeff Young.

Jeff would often take his dog on the bus to get to the dog park. But on one trip, Eclipse decided her owner was taking a little too long to get on the bus, so she hopped on herself.

The bus driver recognized Eclipse and dropped her off at the dog park, as usual. Jeff caught up later.

It’s usually scary when your dog wanders off on its own… but in this case, it proved that Eclipse was smart enough to take public transportation on her own.

Jeff realized the dog didn’t need to wait up for him at all… and let the dog start boarding the bus on her own.

The dog follows this routine every day: she boards the bus, takes a seat, rides a few stops and then spends a few hours playing in the park. When she’s all done, she boards the bus and heads home.

She even has her own bus pass, attached to her collar.

And she’s become quite a local celebrity. Many people sharing the commute have fallen in love with the independent dog.

“All of the bus drivers know her and she makes them smile, and many of the regular passengers enjoy seeing her every day and will often sit down next to her,” explained Robbie Lauren in a Facebook post about Eclipse, which has been shared nearly 300,000 times.

“She makes everybody happy.”

She even has her own Facebook page now, where she’s dubbed “Seattle’s Bus Riding Dog.”

So if you’re ever in Seattle, take a bus to the dog park… you might just be greeted by a real celebrity.

Good for this independent dog for breaking free from the leash! Share this great story!
