This inquisitive little dog had managed to get through the railings of the apartment and found herself in a dangerous situation.
Thankfully Brazilian man Joao Augusto spotted her and shouted to the caretaker of the building for some towels so he could catch the dog if she fell.
But little did he know how quickly events would take a turn for the worse.
Fell 100 ft from balcony
Little Mel then fell from the railings and 100ft toward Joao standing on the street below.
Cameras caught the scary moment when all Joao could do was hold his hands out and hope that he caught the petrified pooch.
Thankfully the dog fell into his arms with a force that knocked her rescuer to the floor.
“I knew that I wouldn’t be able to catch her but I was aware that I could cushion the fall,” Joao said according to The Daily Mail.
“I was on the floor for a few seconds, but it was from relief. I think that I was in the right place at the right time.”
Thankfully neither of them were injured and the dog’s owner has installed netting around the rails so Mel can’t fall through again.
