Tough street cat Bruce Willis finally finds loving home and he can’t stop purring

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and none more so than this picture a humane society posted of a street cat needing a loving home.

Bruce Willis had spent most, if not all, of his life on the streets. He was covered in scars, his teeth were chipped, his eye was injured and he was exhausted from fighting to survive every day.

But if you didn’t know his background his eyes said it all. One woman, not looking to get a cat and not even allowed one in her apartment, couldn’t get Bruce’s sad face out of her mind and wouldn’t rest until she saved him.

Bruce was exhausted when he arrived at Animal Humane Society in Minnesota. He even tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) which attacks the immune system, leaving the cat vulnerable to many other infections.

You’d imagine a cat having lived such a tough life would be hostile but the minute he was cuddled he would instantly purr.

“Bruce is the sweetest and most affectionate boy around. All cheeks and love, he will brighten every day you spend with him,” the shelter wrote, as per Love Meow.

On International Cat Day (August 8th), Sandra saw a picture of Bruce on Facebook and instantly fell in love with him.

She posted a picture of Bruce on her Instagram account with the words: “My future human, who had no intentions on getting a cat, almost started crying when she saw my sad eyes. She was sure someone among the thousands of people who had seen the post would get him, but as the days passed and he was still there, she decided to visit him, just ‘to look,’ of course.”

Sandra desperately wanted to adopt Bruce but had to get permission from her landlord.

“The first visit. I looked even sadder in real life than in the picture. A dog walked by and I got so scared, but I didn’t have any energy to even move,” Sandra wrote about Bruce.

After a month, Bruce still hadn’t found a home so Sandra sent her landlord a picture of Bruce and convinced him to make an exception to the no pets rule for Bruce.

“I sent a picture of him to my landlord (how can you say no to those eyes) and I got permission to get him!”

Finally Sandra could take her sweet cat home and said he didn’t stop purring.

She even set up an Instagram account to show his journey and mrwillisthecat now has over 51,000 followers.

Bruce deserves this loving home, he’s been through so much.

I’m so glad there are people out there who are willing to do all they can to save our sad stray animals.
