Cop responds to call and finds cat hanging from garage door – owner finally returns during rescue op

Deputy Mike Scott from Louisiana’s Ascension Parish Police District explained how shocked he was by the site that awaited him.

“Never in all of my years was I prepared to encounter what I saw upon my arrival,” Deputy Scott said in a statement that was shared on  Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

He saw the end of a cat hanging from the top of a garage door and could not believe his eyes. There were already several neighbors and construction workers there attempting to assist.

Thanks to Deputy Scott’s many years of experience, he immediately knew what he had to do to safely free the cat. Together they all helped to remove part of the garage door to make a space for the cat to escape.

After a few hours the cat’s owner returned and couldn’t believe what had happened to her precious pet, exclaiming,  “Oh my God, Bella!”

The post said how important this rescue was for the owner after he’d been through a tough experience.

No injuries

“After speaking with the homeowner further, Deputy Scott learned that most of the residents in the Autumnview neighborhood were devastated by the recent August flood and all of the neighbors had become close in the past four months,” the post read.

Thankfully the cat was not injured as a result of her ordeal but must have been pretty frightened.

This cat definitely has nine lives. Thank goodness for our hardworking officers who go above and beyond the call of duty to help us and our four-legged friends.

Please share this story to pay tribute to them.
