Fearless teen pushes mama bear off wall to save her dogs from attack

How far would you go to save your dogs?

If they darted into traffic, would you chase after them? What about if they jumped into a swift moving river? Now what about if a bear and her cubs came too close and the animals began fighting?

One incredibly brave teen, perhaps without thinking about the potential consequences, took matters into her own hands when her dogs recently encountered a bear and her cubs in her family’s backyard.

Hailey Morinico, 17, said she heard her dogs barking in the backyard of her family’s home in Bradbury, California. When she went to go see what the commotion was about, she noticed what she thought was a “funny looking dog.”

That’s when the “dog” that was actually a mother bear tried to pick up one of her dogs.

“I go over to the bear, and the first thing I think to do is push it,” she says in a TikTok shared on her cousin’s account. “Push a bear. Push an apex predator.”

The 17-year-old didn’t believe she pushed the mama bear “that hard,” she only intended to make the bear lose her balance.

Thankfully, the bear dropped her dog and Hailey was able to pick up her dog and run. The bear and her cubs also ran the other way.

Hailey escaped with a sprained finger and a scraped knee, which in the grand scheme of things is a miracle.

Now, the video of her saving her dogs, which her cousin shared on TikTok, is going viral.

And while we definitely wouldn’t recommend running up to a bear and pushing it, we still think it’s incredibly brave what Hailey did in order to save her pups!

Way to go Hailey!
