“Walking Dead” Dog actor Seven has died: Norman Reedus pays tribute to co-star: “will miss you buddy”

Millions of people watched The Walking Dead, AMC’s hit post-apocalyptic zombie drama, throughout its 11-season run, and many of the show’s large cast of characters became beloved fan favorites.

Sadly, one of those cast members has died: Seven, the dog actor who played Daryl Dixon’s loyal canine companion.

After the show announced the canine star’s passing, many in the show shared heartwarming tributes to their furry co-star.

The news was announced on The Walking Dead‘s official social media accounts, who shared photos of the dog. “Rest in peace, Seven,” they wrote, calling him the show’s “best boy.”

Seven made his debut in the show’s 9th season, playing a dog simply known as “Dog.” Originally owned by character Leah Shaw, Dog became the loyal companion of Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus.

Dog was a prominent character in The Walking Dead‘s final seasons and was a fan favorite. In a show known for its high body count and killing off main characters, Dog was notably one of the only cast members to survive to the end — a testament to his popularity and Seven’s performance.

While working on the show, Reedus spoke very highly of his co-star.

“We just did a scene the other day that ended up being the opposite of what it was supposed to be because the dog just wanted to do something else, and it came out so much better,” Reedus told ComicBook.com in 2018.

“He’ll probably be running the show. It’s great! I love it. He loves me, too.”
