Family wants to return dog food after both their dogs die – weren’t prepared for company’s response

Anyone who has ever owned dogs or cats knows how much pets mean to us. They’re a part of the family.

But unfortunately, they don’t stay with us for long, and eventually we’re forced to say goodbye to our four-legged friends.

Laura Waltenburg’s sister experienced this twice in one weekend.

Laura described the tragic events that had happened to her sister in a post on Facebook. Her sister had two dogs who she loved more than anything else in the world. But sadly both of the dogs died, one after the other, on the same weekend.

The family was distraught.

Shortly after thier loss, the family received 40lbs of dog food that they had ordered online from pet supply company Chewy. It was a painful reminder of their beloved dogs who were no longer with them.

Asked for a refund

The food was quite expensive, so the couple decided to email the company and ask if they could return the food.

They explained the situation and asked if they could receive a refund, minus the shipping costs, when they sent back the food.

But they weren’t prepared for the company’s response.

Full refund

The company immediately gave the couple a full refund and asked them to donate the dog food to their nearest shelter, instead of sending it back. They even asked the couple to send them a picture of the dogs so they could add it to their memorial book.

A few days later, the couple received a bunch of flowers from the pet company.

When Laura Waltenburg told the story on Facebook page Love What Matters, the post received thousands of happy comments. Several people even shared similar positive experiences with the company.

One woman told how her dog was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. Chewy followed Joy’s fight, and when her dog passed away they sent her a beautiful painting of her dog as a keepsake.

I can only admire how this company treats their customers and animals. They really go above and beyond to respect and cherish our four-legged friends.

I wish all humans had this kind of respect and love for animals. The world would really be a better place!
