Family “never lost hope” after dog ran away — 10 years later they get a miracle phone call

It’s always heartbreaking when a pet goes missing, but it’s important to not lose hope: sometimes pets return to us when we least expect them, months or even years after they disappeared.

One family never lost hope even when their dog was gone for a whole decade — and recently got a miraculous phone call.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay recently took in a 14-year-old Cockapoo who was picked up as a stray.

Thankfully, the dog had a microchip, allowing them to find the owner’s contact information. They called the owner — and little did they know how miraculous that phone call was.

They learned that the dog, named Cleo, had run away from home ten years ago! Even after all that time, her family still had faith they would see their pet again.

“They never lost hope and continued to update her microchip in the small hope that they would be reunited, even after they moved to Miami!” the Humane Society wrote on Facebook.

Even though their move added some distance, the family drove to Tampa on Saturday to reunite with their long-lost dog.

The humane society says it’s an important reminder to keep your pets microchipped, which makes miraculous reunions like this possible even after a decade — and the importance of “never losing hope.”

How amazing! We’re so glad Cleo is back home with her family after being missing for ten years!
