Dog runs to the TV when Pavarotti starts singing — and joins in for an opera ‘duet’

Some pets really love music, just like people do. Many pet owners can attest their dog or cat has a favorite song that immediately perks them up — and sometimes they can’t resist singing along.

But one dog has a particularly highbrow taste in music: he loves opera… so much so that when he hears his favorite star belt out an opera, he comes running to join in.

A viral Twitter video by @BestRecipesUK shows how their very talented dog, Hugo, can’t resist the sound of one of the biggest opera stars of all time, Luciano Pavarotti.

Like so many of the late tenor’s fans, the dog was glued to the TV watching him perform one of his signature arias, “Nessun dorma,” from Puccini’s opera Turandot.

While few singers can belt a high note like Pavarotti, that didn’t stop Hugo from trying: while watching his hero on TV, the dog howled as if to sing along:

And when the opera singer reaches the climax of the song and the famous high note, the dog gets closer to the TV, as if to get a closer look.

The owner says that this isn’t the only time Hugo has gotten in an opera mood, but this one holds a special place in the dog’s heart.

“He loves all opera but especially Pavarotti,” @BestRecipesUK wrote on Twitter.

And here’s the original Pavarotti performance — show it to your own dog and see what happens!

What a talented dog — and with such taste! We’re sure we’ll see Hugo on stage at the Met someday!
