Dog mom goes viral after finding perfect lifehack for clipping her dog’s nails

It’s important to keep your pets groomed, but we all know that’s easier said than done. Whether it’s giving them a bath or clipping their nails, it can be hard to get an overactive dog to stay still long enough to get the job done.

But sometimes all it takes is a little creativity—and one woman found an ingenious hack to get her dog to sit still during grooming time. While it looks silly, it works perfectly, and people online are loving the idea.

Lindsey Shelton, an ICU travel nurse and owner of two rescue dogs, posted the video on TikTok, saying she’s found a way to get her pup to stay while she clips his nails.

Her technique isn’t exactly glamorous—it involves her wrapping seran wrap around her head, and then applying peanut butter.

While her boyfriend in the background says she looks like a “dork,” she replies that she’s about to look like a “genius.”

And that she does: soon, the dog is happily licking up the peanut butter on her head, not even realizing at all that Lindsey is trimming his nails.

Clearly her idea works like a charm.

The TikTok video has been viewed over 2.5 million times and has nearly half a million likes. People loved the idea and praised her as a genius, many saying they’ll try the idea themselves (note that it’s important to use xylitol-free peanut butter, as Lindsey does.)

Her social media includes many videos and photos of her dogs, though she says this is the first time she’s tried the peanut butter hack: “Quarantine has me doing all kinds of silly things,” she told Buzzfeed.

She’s glad the post has gotten so much viral fame, and hopes that beyond giving people a fun grooming trick to try, they’ll stick around for more content about her rescue dogs.

“I hope people view my other TikTok videos and learn about fostering animals in need! That’s the main reason I made my TikTok.”
