Carrie Underwood adopts shelter puppy while on tour: ‘just too good to be true’

It’s always inspiring to see celebrities adopt pets from shelters, setting a good example for their fans to rescue pets in need.

Recently, one of the biggest music stars in the world did just that, making an unexpected stop on her tour to give an adorable puppy a home.

Carrie Underwood is a true country music superstar: since winning American Idol in 2005, she’s gone on to be one of the most successful women in music, selling over 70 million records with hits like “Inside Your Heaven” and “Before He Cheats.”

On Sunday, Underwood made a big announcement on social media — not a new album drop, but something much cuter.

She adopted a new rescue puppy!

According to the star’s social media post, she was on tour in Charlotte, North Carolina when representatives from a local shelter, Pawsitive Impact North Carolina Dog Shelter, brought some puppies to the concert venue to “make us all smile.”

And when Carrie Underwood laid eyes on one puppy, she knew it was meant to be.

“We had been looking for the right pup for our family for a while and she seemed just too good to be true!” the country star wrote.

She named the puppy Charlotte “Charlie” Nilla Fisher, taking the last name of her husband, retired NHL player Mike Fisher.

Underwood wrote that the new addition is now home, and has been getting along well with her other dogs Ace and Zero. “She is happy at home playing with her boys,” Underwood wrote.

“Thank you, Pawsitive Impact NC Dog Rescue for all the incredible work you do and thanks for bringing this sweet girl into our lives!”

Underwood is known for her love of animals and using her celebrity platform to advocate for rescues and shelters. She has done public service announcements for the Humane Society of the United States, was the official spokesperson for the Pedigree adoption drive, and even opened the Happy Paws Animal Shelter in her hometown.

It’s been quite a week for celebrities adopting rescue animals: newly-retired NFL legend Tom Brady also recently announced he had adopted two Siamese kittens after volunteering at a shelter with his daughter.

Thank you to Carrie Underwood for adopting this sweet shelter puppy! A true talent and a friend to animals ❤️
