Bure, best known for playing eldest daughter D.J. Tanner on Full House and its sequel Fuller House, announced Boris’ passing on Instagram yesterday. “Life isn’t the same without you,” the actress wrote.

“You will forever be with us in our hearts and memories- you brought us so much love, protection and joy,” she continued. “You were such a special boy. Our hearts will never get over you.”

The Hallmark Channel alum also shared a video montage of Boris over the years, from his days as a little puppy to a big dog, bonding with Bure and her family.

“Forever in our hearts,” Bure wrote.

Many of Bure’s co-stars and celebrity friends shared their condolences on social media.

“Those sweet, beautiful eyes. Run free, Boris. You are so loved,” wrote actress Andrea Barber, who played best friend Kimmy Gibbler on Full House.

“Sending prayers and love to you,” wrote Wonder Years star Danica McKellar.

“i’m so sorry, love. there’s nothing like that heartbreak,” singer LeAnn Rimes wrote. “Sending you and your family comfort.”

Boris had been a part of Bure’s life since 2015, when she took the Rottweiler in as a puppy. “Oh my goodness, Boris has arrived!!!!!!!” Bure wrote on Facebook in 2015. “I can’t wait to get home and meet him!!!!!!”

Boris didn’t stay a puppy for long and soon grew into a big dog that Bure called a “beast,” but she said the dog brought a lot of joy to her and her family.

“Boris makes my life better because he just loves me. He loves me on my good days and on my bad days,” she told Today in 2018. “He doesn’t care what I look like or even if I smell!”

“His head is three times as big as mine,” Bure said. “He’s just all cuddles with our family. He’s the best.”

In 2020, Bure published her third children’s book, Candace’s Playful Puppy, about a girl who adopts a puppy from a shelter. Boris was probably an influence on the story, though Bure decided not to model the pup on her own dog.

“Boris could look like a big, mean, scary dog so we didn’t want to put a dog like Boris in the book,” she told Today.

Rest in peace to Boris, Candace Cameron Bure’s beloved dog 💔🌈
