Cat hangs around outside of hospital all the time, so they hire him as a ‘security guard’

As humans, we’ve all gone through the struggle of trying to find a job. It’s a long process involving resumes, networking, interviews, etc.

But apparently, it’s a lot easier for animals. All you have to do is hang out in the same place long enough, and they’ll make you an employee.

That was the case for one cat, who landed a job at a hospital… no medical school required.

Elwood is a tabby cat who, for the past year or so, can be found hanging around his favorite spot in the world: the entrance to Epworth Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.

Elwood hung around so often that he was recognized by the staff who passed him by every day, including pathologist Chantel Trollip.

One day, Chantel was arriving for work and saw that Elwood had a new tag around his collar.

When she saw what it was, she couldn’t help but laugh: it was an employee ID badge… saying Elwood was now in charge of “security.”

This is Elwood, he hangs around the hospital I work at so I think they’ve just decided he belongs here now and has been promoted to security 😂

Elwood had hung around so long that the hospital staff apparently decided to make it official.

Like many people, Chantel was delighted by the cat’s new job promotion.

“I was actually having a case of the sads that day, but seeing his ID badge turned my whole mood around!” she told Bored Panda.

Elwood takes his job seriously, although like any cat he can’t resist trying to get people to pet him.

“He is lovely and friendly, but not overly affectionate,” Chantel said. “He enjoys a good pat, but likes to keep things short and move around a fair bit.”

“He is on the security team, after all, has to make sure everyone coming and going gets checked.”
