‘Holy Spirit’ saves German driver from speeding ticket

With modern technology it’s very difficult to get away with a lot of things like running a red light or speeding. Cameras make it near impossible to hide your identity.

Unless you’re a motorist in the German city of Viersen who just happens to have the “Holy Spirit” on your side.

Police in Viersen, Germany captured images of a car traveling 54 kilometers per hour – 33 miles per hour – in a 30 kph zone. While the incident warranted a fine up to $118, police decided to let the driver go.

Why?

In a press release, it was clear why. The driver’s identity was perfectly blocked by a bird that happened to fly right in front of the driver’s face at the moment the camera took the photo.

The police joked that perhaps the driver received a message to slow down from the Holy Spirit at that moment.

“We hope that the protected speeder likewise understands this ‘hint from above’ and drives appropriately in the future.”

Some took to the police department’s Facebook page asking if they could avoid a speeding ticket after they discovered their image was blocked by a “bird.”

While police said that in this particular instance the bird would have been subject to a fine for traveling above the speed limit, they decided to drop that case as well.

However, they are curious if this bird is the same one that set off a speed camera without a vehicle present.

If I were the driver of this vehicle I wouldn’t be able to believe my luck. I’d never drive even one mile per hour above the speed limit ever again!

Pass this photo on because it’s one of those ones that you simply have to see to believe.
