Woman snaps perfect photo of cloud that looks just like a dog

At some point in our lives we’ve all taken a moment to just look up and watch the sky. It’s always fun to see what shapes you can see in the clouds.

To play the game, sometimes you have to stretch your imagination a bit — you rarely find a cloud that looks exactly like something.

But one cloud-gazing woman found a cloud that looks exactly like a big fluffy dog — and the photo is going viral.

Melissa Lanham, from Campbellsville, Kentucky, was in just the right place at just the right time recently. On a beautiful clear day, a picturesque scene above a barn became even more stunning when Melissa saw a cloud that looked exactly like a dog standing on its hind legs.

“I was sitting on my porch and happened to look over toward the barn and said, ‘OMG. That looks like a dog!’” Melissa told The Dodo.

“I grabbed my phone and started snapping,” she said. “I was like, ‘That’s so cool. I gotta share this on social media.’ It’s just not something you see every day.”

She says she snapped the priceless pic just in time: “Didn’t take long for the cloud to do a different formation, so I was at the right place at the right time.”

She shared the photo on a local Kentucky Facebook group, and it quickly went viral with over 500 shares. Hundreds of comments agree that it looks just like a dog — in the kind of upright pose you’d see your pet in when it’s begging for a treat.

“That cloud looks exactly like my bichon frise! I love it!” one commenter wrote.

People love their dogs, so it’s not surprising that many people have noticed dog-shaped clouds in the sky.

They’ve been the basis of some very memorable viral photos, like one that hit the internet last year that people couldn’t agree whether looked more like a dog or a cat:

And sometimes, a pet-shaped cloud comes at just the right moment, as if a sign from above. Last year, a woman named Lucy Ledgeway saw the face of her dog, Sunny, in the clouds — just hours after he passed away.

“It was so weird. I was thinking to myself that I wanted to see Sunny in the sky as a sign that she was OK,” she told the Daily Mail.

“I was crying my eyes out and I looked up in the sky and saw Sunny… After seeing Sunny in the sky I felt a warmth. It was her way of telling us that she is OK.”

It’s always incredible to see a cloud that looks so much like a dog! Have you ever seen a pet-shaped cloud in the sky? Let us know in the comments or share your photos!
