Sharon felt so sorry for the frightened creature, who could barely move it was so weak.
It also had crusty-looking skin on its back which was later confirmed as mange, a painful skin disease caused by parasitic mites.
City of Folsom Animal Services arrived to get the animal, later named “Princess,” and managed to get it safely into a cage.
But when rescuer Sallysue Stein arrived on the scene, she realized that Princess was not a dog at all – but a gold coyote.
Gold Country Wildlife Rescue (GCWR) took Princess to their shelter and took care of the coyote which was clearly in pain.
Sallysue Stein, from GCWR, immediately fell in love with this wild animal which she said “had such soft eyes, that relayed the message of ‘help me if you can.'”
The specialist veterinarians provided emergency care for the coyote who gave her a warm bath, treated her skin and fed her.
Once she was feeling better, Princess was then able to interact with other coyotes just like her.
The previously sick and skinny coyote was able to thrive, surrounded by her fellow beasts and given the nourishment to make her stronger.
The public isn’t always sympathetic to coyotes as they have been known to attack domestic animals but at this wildlife rescue center, they believe all animals are worth saving.
“I feel like we can help and then we can put them back out into the wild,” Cindy said.
Princess was rehabilitated and then released back into the wild. Just look how happy she is compared to the sorry state she was found in.
What an incredible transformation! We don’t know why Princess ended up outside Sharon’s front door, but it was awful to see her so malnourished and weak.
