Starving, cold puppy covered in bite marks found dumped in a cage in the middle of a field

This poor creature was soaked from the previous night’s storm, left with no food and trapped in the middle of nowhere.

According to Sandy Williams, director of The Tunica Humane Society, from the moment the puppy was pulled out of the cage, it was clear she had nearly been starved to death.

A post that staff shared of the desperate puppy showed just how heartbroken they were at the state of this sweet pup they named Melanie.

“It was January and the dead of winter. It had stormed that night before. Hard freezing rain. The puppy had no way to seek shelter. She was forced to endure the pounding rain all night long in that open field. Her body covered in bite marks and gapping wounds. How could anyone in this world be so cruel to an innocent puppy.”

Staff were so angry at Melanie’s treatment they vowed to do everything they could to try and find the person responsible.

“Who in the Hell does this…. I am going to do everything in my power to find out. Someone in Tunica County knows something about this…. Someone knows this little dog…,” the post read.

Melanie was wrapped in a blanket and nursed back to health by the animal heroes at Tunica Humane Society. They even found a forever home for this sweet pup with the Baumgardner Family, who had also adopted another pup called Louie from the same shelter.

“Today Melanie and Louie are bonded at the heart. A fairytale ending for this sweet, little puppy that had endured so much in the first few weeks of her life,” staff wrote.

We’re so grateful these animal heroes found Melanie in time. Please share this happy-ending story with all the dog lovers you know
