Missing German shepherd puppy found in tree 25 feet in the air

It’s always heartbreaking when a pet goes missing, but sometimes lost pets show up in the most unexpected places.

That was the case recently, when one man discovered his missing German Shepherd puppy — 25 feet in the air!

Luna, a 10-month-old German Shepherd puppy, went missing from her home in El Dorado County, California on Sunday, according to KCRA.

Her owner Brian Spies searched everywhere, and was afraid that she might’ve fallen prey to the local mountain lions, coyotes and foxes who reside in the nearby forest.

But Luna was soon found in a very unexpected place. Brian’s friend Luka Bogdanovich was driving when he noticed an unusual, familiar sight high up in the forest trees.

“I see something in the tree, and I went, ‘Holy cow, that’s the dog,’” he told KCRA.

We’ve all heard of cats getting stuck in trees, but dogs? It’s not clear how the puppy ended up 25 feet up, but Brian and Luka quickly got to work to save Luna. Brian used an extension ladder from his work truck, climbed up and “bear hugged” Luna before carefully making his way down.

Luna was reportedly a “little tired,” but despite the unusual ordeal she quickly bounced back to her normal self.

Meanwhile, Brian has learned a lot about Luna’s hidden talents. “If she ever gets lost again, we look up, because she can climb trees,” he joked to KCRA.

We have no idea how Luna got into a tree that high, but we’re glad she was found and is now safe and back on the ground!
