Golden retriever greets his mailman best friend with a hug every time he sees him

It’s a commonly held belief that dogs and mail carriers are mortal enemies. Many of us have seen our pets mistake the mailman for an intruder and try to bark him off the property.

But it turns that isn’t always true—some delivery people actually love dogs, and the dogs love them right back.

That’s certainly the case for one friendly dog, who never misses a chance to greet his mailman in the most precious way.

Moose is a golden retriever who lives with his family in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

A few weeks ago, the family got a new mail carrier assigned to their route. Normally, this is when a dog would be the least trusting, seeing an unfamiliar face approach his house every day.

But instead, Moose saw it as an opportunity to make a new friend, and make the new mailman feel welcome on his block.

One day, the mailman arrived and Moose ran out of the house to greet him. He leapt up to give him a doggie hug.

The mailman, perhaps taken by surprise, appreciated the dog’s warm welcome and petted Moose. It was clear the two were becoming fast friends.

“It was adorable,” Meghan Gruszynski, Moose’s owner, told The Dodo. “I loved how much he loved our boy and loved how much Moose loved saying hi to him.”

It soon became a recurring thing: every time the mailman arrived, Moose ran out of the house, excitedly wagging his tail and waiting to greet his buddy.

Through the visits, Moose’s family discovered something that made the adorable friendship even more special.

The mailman had lost his own dog recently, so getting so much love from this friendly golden retriever no doubt brightened his day every time.

“Hopefully it continues for many, many years!” Meghan said. “He’s our mailman ’til he retires, so it should be fun watching their love.”
