Elderly dog abandoned in the street after 10 years with note saying “I have not learnt to be good”

When I think of the dogs I’ve had over the course of my life my heart is filled with happiness. For me, dogs are so much more than just pets; they’re companions, partners in crime … family.

Which is why I find it so difficult to process the fact that people can dump or abandon their dogs when their situation at home changes. We know the emotional toll that must take on our four-legged friends. There is simply no excuse.

Well, sadly, an elderly dog has been found left in the street alongside a truly heartbreaking note from his owner.

As per reports, the black Lab was found tied to the railings outside Jasmil Kennels in Kent, UK on Monday morning.

The note found by him read: “Please can you take me in as my owner has abandoned me after 10 years because I have not learnt to be good so I have been returned here where he found me.”

Swale Borough Council Stray Dog Service is now aiming to track down the owner so that they can get a better understanding of why and how they could do such a heartless thing.

They posted to Facebook: “This elderly black Labrador was found tied up to railings at Jasmil Kennels this morning.

“We would very much like to speak to the owner to establish why the dog was the dog has been abandoned. No chip.

“If you recognise him and can be of any assistance, please contact the council in confidence or message this page. He will now be taken into our care.”

My heart bleeds reading stories like this one. How could anyone abandon their family dog after 10 years?

I don’t know about you, but I sincerely hope the owner is found and never allowed to own animals again.
