Dog was starved to the point she ‘ate pieces of her blanket to get something inside her’

This loving dog who had nothing but respect and loyalty for humans was paid for his sweetness by being starved by the humans who were supposed to be looking after her.

A 2-year-old lab mix dog was found on the streets in Cocoa, Florida.

The dog, who was given the name Daisy, was so weak she could barely stand and rescuers knew whoever had kept the dog had starved her before dumping her.

“Clearly somebody kept her without food, apparently she was so starved that she ate pieces of blanket just to get something inside her,” according to Theresa Clifton from the Brevard Humane Society.

Theresa Clifton with the Brevard Humane Society said Daisy weighed just 29 pounds when she was found. She said a dog her size should weigh 50 or 60 pounds. https://bit.ly/37ELG7q

A dog her age and breed should weigh between 50 and 60 pounds but Daisy only weighed 29 pounds.

Daisy also had severe lacerations to her legs which had to be treated and dressed immediately.

The internal damage to her body caused by her starvation meant her rescuers faced hefty medical bills to get this girl back to her healthy self again so an appeal was put out for donations.

“It’s just pitiful to see an animal, I mean she could lift her head a little and she wagged her tail. It just breaks your heart because there’s no need for it,” Theresa added.

Staff also ensured that Daisy was not only nursed back to a healthy condition but found an adoptive family that was sympathetic of her situation.

“Somebody that will be kind to her and take the time to work with her and understand the trauma she’s been through,” Theresa said.

Thankfully Daisy found a new home where she received the love and care she deserved.

I do not understand people who keep animals and starve them, these people need to be caught, punished and prevented from keeping animals for life.

Please share to show your support for harsher punishments for those people caught starving animals.
