Here’s how Frodo looked when he was found on the street last May. He had hardly any fur on his body and one of his eyes was seriously infected.
Nobody knows what Frodo went through before he was found. But luckily someone decided to contact animal hero Klaudija Sigurnjak so that Frodo would get help.
Klaudija had saved many animals from the street before, but Frodo was in a worse state than any of the dogs she’d seen before. He was in a really terrible way.
“I was stunned. I could hardly believe it was really a dog,” she tells The Dodo.
She started giving Frodo food to win his trust, and the poor dog was immediately happy to follow her.
Klaudija took him to the vet.
The veterinarian quickly realized that Frodo’s right eye was beyond all rescue. They decided to remove it. Fortunately, the other eye worked as it should, so Frodo didn’t go blind.
At first they weren’t sure Frodo would survive. He was extremely skinny and full of ticks and fleas. In addition, he had a serious skin infection that caused him to lose most of his coat.
But Frodo would soon prove that he’s a real fighter. With each passing day, he made small steps towards recovery.
His skin infections healed and Frodo’s fur grew back. He grew healthier and began to move around.
Just look how much of a spring he has in his step, no one would have expected it when he was first found!
He got healthier and healthier as time went by.
“We never dreamt that he would be so beautiful,” Klaudija says.
Today Frodo has fully recovered, despite the fact that he’s missing an eye. But it doesn’t seem to bother him.
As soon as Frodo was well enough, it was time for him to come to his new family. Marko Duspara and his wife immediately fell for Frodo and decided to adopt him.
Marko tells us that Frodo is now a very happy dog, and it’s hard to imagine how bad he had it less than a year ago.
What a wonderful end to this story! And what a transformation Frodo has gone through! It’s hard to believe it’s the same dog.
