Grieving man asks Chewy to return dog food after beloved pet dies, receives sweetest gift from company

Joseph shared on Facebook that in October 2018 he had to put his beloved pug, Bailey down. He explained that Bailey ate a prescription dog food that cost $70.

And now that Bailey was gone he was left with an unopened bag of food. He contacted Chewy, an online pet supply store, and inquired about returning the product.

Chewy told Joseph to donate the bag of dog food and happily gave him a refund. But that wasn’t it.

“GREAT customer service; right? IT GETS BETTER!!” he wrote.

In the beginning of May, Joseph said he unexpectedly received a card and painting of Bailey from Chewy.

“Pets come into our lives, leave paw prints on our hearts and are forever changed,” the handwritten note read. “We’re sending lots of love and positive thoughts. If you ever need anything, we’re always here.”

Joseph’s Facebook post went viral with many people commenting on Chewy’s excellent customer service.

At least one other person commented that Chewy sent them an oil painting of their dog when their furry friend passed away.

This isn’t the only example of Chewy supporting grieving pet parents. In 2017, Sheree Flanagan received a bouquet of flowers from Chewy after she informed a representative about her pets’ deaths.

This is such a sweet gesture by Chewy.
