Cheetah mom gives birth, welcomes seven cute cubs into the world at once

For zoos there’s nothing more exciting than when an animal gives birth, especially when it’s an endangered species: every baby born is a new hope of repopulation.

But one zoo had extra reason to celebrate when one cheetah mother brought seven cubs into the world… and in an extraordinarily rare case, gave birth to all of them at the same time.

The Metro Richmond Zoo in Virginia celebrated last year when Vaila, one of their cheetah residents, gave birth to seven cubs.

According to Inside Edition, it is very rare for a cheetah mom to have so many kids at once, occurring only one percent of the time.

But amazingly, this mom has done it twice, the first time in 2016.

The zoo has seen the births of nine litters of cheetahs since 2013, 47 in total.

Cheetahs are the most-endangered big cat species in the world, so any birth is a cause for celebration. These seven cubs do their part to keep the species alive and well.

Not to mention they’re also pretty adorable.

What great news! Congrats to this mom on giving birth to so many beautiful cubs. Share this adorable story!
