Burglar with ski mask tries to kidnap 9 yr old boy, instantly regrets it when family pit bull charges in

Shane was at home with his pit bull Baby Girl when the burglary took place.

“I thought it was my mom because I heard someone trying to open the door,” the 9 year old tells KOLN. A man in a ski mask broke into the boy’s house while his parents were out picking up his siblings from school.

It’s a terrifying scenario, and I hate to think what would have happened if Shane had been completely alone. But luckily, Baby Girl was ready to jump into action.

“The dude started chasing me upstairs and I called my dog down and they started to fight,” Shane remembers. “It was in a blink of an eye and I was really scared. Because, it was only me home and I didn’t know who it was and the only protection I had was my dogs.”

Shane describes how the man seemed ready to attack him, but that he was thwarted by the brave pit bull.

“It seemed like he wanted me because when he saw me, he just slowly walked toward me and he didn’t look at anything else. He just kept his eyes on me.”

Luckily, however, Baby Girl eventually won out.

“The dude pulled the blinds down on my dog’s head and then ran away and shut the door,” Shane explains.

Fled in a silver car

A neighbor who heard the incident happen called Shane’s mom to tell her about the break-in before she returned home.

Shane told the police that the intruder fled in a silver car. Currently, police have no leads on who the man is.

If the burglar was trying to abduct Shane, then there’s no doubt that the pit bull saved his life.
