As millions of people around the world retreat to their homes in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, a group of animal heroes are helping the stray dogs on the street unable to get food.
Authorities in Argentina are driving around the streets of Villa Carlos Paz in Córdoba distributing food to the city’s many homeless dogs.
With so many businesses and nonprofits forced to close these animals are not getting the assistance they normally would so a team of people from Salud Publica are giving a helping hand.
Argentina has declared a lockdown until March 31 with security forces patrolling the streets to ensure people stay in their homes to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Three people have died from COVID-19, while there are 128 confirmed cases in the country, according to figures compiled by John Hopkins University in the U.S., and published in an AA article on March 20.
Hundreds of stray animals are without food and water after the mandatory lockdown forced many shops and businesses to close, according to Argentinian news website Todo Noticias.
Local veterinarians are distributing the food in blue containers and asking the public not to move them if they spot them on the street.
