The Maine coon is one of the largest domestcated cat breeds and one of the oldest natural breeds in North America.
It is specifically native to the state of Maine and is the official state cat. It’s appearance is rather magical and it’s hard to believe it’s real, considering its size.
Many cat lovers have fallen in love with one particular Maine coon cat called Lotus, who is taking the internet by storm.
A fully grown Maine coon can weigh up to 18 lbs for a male and 12 lbs for a female and grow over 3 ft long! They are good-natured, affable cats who are great mousers.
They are very sociable but not needy cats, and you’ll be relieved to know they’re not generally lap cats but, like to be near their owners.
The Maine coon cat Lotus is absolutely adorable! Lotus’ owner wanted to share pictures of her gorgeous feline with the world so started an Instagram account just for her beloved pet.
And it seems that it’s not just Lotus’ owner that adores her huge fur ball; the account currently has over 150,000 followers.
The pictures posted of Lotus show what inquisitive cats they are, with plenty of adventures to keep up with.
They’re known as the ‘gentle giants’ of the cat world and have distinctive Lynx-like ears and a lion-like mane, but, there’s nothing ferocious about this breed.
It’s hard not to stare at this absolute beauty.
