Katy Perry posts tribute to her beloved rescue cat who passed away — rest in peace

No matter who you are, it’s always a sad day when your pet passes away. Even celebrities have a hard time saying goodbye to their beloved dog or cat.

Pop star Katy Perry said goodbye to her cat this week—a pet that was a big part of her life and a favorite of her fans. She shared a tribute to her late friend on Instagram.

Perry, one of the best-selling artists in the world known for hits like “Firework” and “Roar,” rescued the cat 15 years ago, when the cat appeared at her then-boyfriend’s house as a pregnant stray.

She took the poor cat in, and gave her the hilariously perfect named “Kitty Purry.”

It was a real rags-to-riches story: Kitty Purry went from being a starving homeless cat to being the pet of one of the biggest pop stars in the world.

“Two litters and many moons later, this street cat became a lovable mascot to many,” Katy Perry wrote on Instagram.

Fans would be excited to see Kitty after concerts. Perry included the cat in the music video of one of her first hits “I Kissed a Girl.”

And she even named one of the lipstick shades in her Cover Girl makeup line after Kitty Purry.

That’s quite a life for any cat—but sadly, Kitty Purry passed away, presumably of old age. The singer announced the news on Instagram yesterday.

“Sadly, Kitty completed her 9th life last night,” Perry wrote. I hope she rests in salmon fillets and tuna tartare way up in catnip heaven.”

“Kitty, thanks for the cuddles and companionship along the way.”

Our pets never know or care how rich and famous we are, they just love us anyway. It’s the purest love anyone can ask for.

Rest in peace, Kitty Purry. Our condolences to Katy Perry—thank you for rescuing this cat and giving her a great life!
