Chicken spotted in NYC ‘crossing the road’… straight towards a fried chicken restaurant

Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side! It’s the old nonsensical joke that we’ve all heard a thousand times.

But that joke came to life in the most unexpected place, as a stray chicken nearly crossed the crossed the road… except “the other side” happened to be the worst possible place for his kind.

Brooklyn is not a place where you expect to see free-range chickens wandering around on their own. But some New Yorkers witnessed a strange sight yesterday of a chicken seemingly waiting to cross the street:

But even crazier, he was about to cross the street to certain doom: there was a Kennedy Fried Chicken across the street!

One onlooker took a video of the unexpected sight and posted it on Reddit.

The good news is this chicken did not naively wander into the enemy territory of the chicken restaurant, nor did he become road kill.

According to the poster, “some random dude swooped in” and saved the chicken, picking it up and taking it away from the scene. Although it’s not clear where he took the chicken, we can assume he’s in a safer place than he was.

It’s the latest in a series of strange chicken sightings in Brooklyn. Just days earlier another chicken was seen in Riverside Park, apparently just hanging out and watching dogs.

A local man took photos of the chicken. When asked if it was his, he told West Side Rag “No, I do not have any affiliation with this chicken.”

Just another normal day in New York City.

That chicken was apparently picked up by the NYPD. Why are there so many chickens in Brooklyn? Was it for the hip neighborhoods? Could they not afford those Manhattan rent prices anymore?

We’ll never know for sure, but chickens, stay safe out there. This city can get dangerous.
